Avantage Sport purses its full potential with Syscomax
Avantage Sport has chosen Syscomax for the transformation of its facilities. Located on Gaston-Dumoulin Street in Blainville, the company specializing in high-performance surfacing of sports installations, is a leader in its field.
The goal of the project is to renovate the current Avantage Sport building to include rental units while keeping the company’s own offices intact. During the work, a new tenant expressed interest for one of the building’s spaces, which resulted in a change of plans: Syscomax must not only enlarge the infrastructure as planned, but also transfer Avantage Sport’s offices to another area of the building in order to allow the tenant to move in to its former space.
The company was able to act on this opportunity and offer its employees brand-new work spaces at the same time. The expansion covers a total area of 16,200 sq. ft. on the ground floor and 1,800 sq. ft. on the upper level. Avantage Sport will occupy 11,500 sq. ft. of the ground floor as well as the entire upper area.
The arrangement of the walls and partitions, notably on the lobby level, will allow for abundant natural lighting to create an exceptional atmosphere. Avantage Sport employees will also have side access to a green exterior patio. As well, a large glass door will separate the interior and exterior areas, giving the building plenty of character.
The project will permit Avantage Sport to optimize the lot’s potential. As this is the last expansion possible at this site, the Syscomax team must ensure that each square foot is used as optimally as possible. A challenge that they will no doubt successfully meet!
The work, which began mid-October, is scheduled to be completed mid-March.
The business relationship continues between Syscomax and Boulangerie Lanthier
Syscomax is proud to announce the delivery of a major renovation and expansion mandate for the Boulangerie Lanthier plant located in Baie-d’Urfé. In 2016, in collaboration with its main shareholder, the French company La Fournée Dorée, Boulangerie Lanthier developed a new range of brioche breads and today is aiming to specialize in this niche market whose demand is steadily growing.
The goal of Syscomax was to help Boulangerie Lanthier upgrade its facilities in order to support the new product’s growth. The new production line required a 85,450-sq.-ft. expansion. Constructed on a steel structure and covered with Norbec panelling and epoxy-finished flooring, the new section features a roof covered with a polyolefin thermoplastic (TPO) monofilament membrane chosen for its excellent sustainability to price ratio.
Work was completed between August 2018 and June 2019. The expansion includes several measures to improve the plant’s energy efficiency such as LED lighting and a major rainwater retention pond. This project had its own set of challenges, but the biggest was unquestionably the tight deadlines. The company had to be able to produce its brioche bread quickly, so the Syscomax team went into fast-track mode, which required close collaboration between the various stakeholders and the company’s operations team. This was done in parallel with the production of Boulangerie Lanthier breads, which meant that no major interruption in production could occur.
This is the third major project Syscomax has undertaken for Boulangerie Lanthier since 2013, in addition to several minor improvements over the years. It’s a long-time collaboration that reflects a very solid business relationship, and Syscomax is always happy to go to the paradise of hot buns!

Syscomax concludes a second project with Maison LeGrand
In 2015, general contractor Syscomax erected the building of Maison LeGrand, a ready-to-eat plant-based specialist in Blainville. The infrastructure included administrative offices, production, warehousing and shipping areas for the company’s line of food products. In response to increased business growth and their first very positive experience with a general contractor, Maison LeGrand again turned to Syscomax when it came time to expand their facilities.
In order to guide and support our clients in their growth, the team in the first phase planned the expansion project so it maintained accessibility while the work was carried out. Specifically, a new freezer was installed and the old freezer was equipped with a quick cooler. Integrating these elements into an operating factory represents a significant challenge; it’s a situation, however, in which Syscomax’s execution teams excel. The area in question was erected on a steel structure that was finished in brick and prefabricated metal cladding panels suitable for agri-food installations. The expansion work was completed on July 19, without a hitch, allowing Maison LeGrand to seamlessly build on its momentum.
“Since the project to build our first factory was a great success, we had planned on completing the second phase with Syscomax. We had to be able to continue our operations in an environment that allowed for flawless food production, and we knew that the Syscomax team was the right one."
