Syscomax co-presidents Mélissa and Jean-Philip Robitaille are proud to announce that the company was awarded a prize and a mention at the 3rd Défis Marcus Vitruve gala of the Corporation des Entrepreneurs Généraux du Québec. Some 250 high-ranking representatives of the construction industry were present at the event held November 10th in Laval.

In the category Excellence in construction contract management, the five members of the jury awarded the prize to Syscomax for its Les Tours Axial project in Laval. Les Tours Axial, a 12-storey project totalling 108,000 sq ft of living space is the first in a series planned by Syscomax in the rental housing construction sector.

Syscomax was also awarded a mention in the category Company succession.

“My brother Jean-Philip and I wish to thank the CEGQ for the mention in this category,” said Mélissa Robitaille, executive director and co-president of Syscomax. “Managing a succession while meeting the demands of steady growth was a major challenge. We also wish to thank our father Sylvain Robitaille, founder and board president, for the opportunity that he has given us to learn the ropes over the years and for his unconditional support”.

PROJEcT : ISATIS SPORT ST-CONSTANT

Energia Award

February 16, 2015

Syscomax left with top honours for the St-Constant Isatis sport complex at the 25th Énergia award gala last February 4th, organized by the Association Québécoise pour la Maîtrise de l’Énergie (AQME). Syscomax won in the Geste Durable category. Some 325 participants were on hand to recognize excellence and celebrate Quebec innovation in the area of energy efficiency.

Jointly with Zéro C, Syscomax won in the Geste Durable category for the following features:

100% heat recovery of the refrigeration system: the energy is used to heat space, ventilation, hot water, hot water for ice resurfacing and the snow pit and heating of the glycol system under the ice to prevent the soil from freezing. This is the central measure of the project.
CO2 air detectors: all areas are equipped with CO2 detectors to monitor air freshness, which ensures the comfort of occupants while reducing energy consumption when the building is unoccupied.
The building envelope consists of super insulated roof ( R 31.42 whereas the standard is R16) and wall panelling (R 36.75 instead of R20).
Use of CO2 refrigerant under the ice, enabling a 90% reduction in pumping energy in comparison to conventional systems using a secondary fluid.
Energy efficient LED lighting throughout the building, both inside and out.
Energy efficient range hoods in the kitchen: smoke and temperature detectors control air circulation in the range hoods.
