June is awareness month for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
Being closely affected by this disease, we got together on June 12 to take on the Ice Bucket Challenge to lend our support and get the ball rolling. We invite you to join us in raising funds for the ALS Quebec Foundation.
What is the Ice Bucket Challenge?
Having created a buzz on social media in 2014, the Ice Bucket Challenge consists of spilling a bucket of ice water on your head and then inviting three contacts to reproduce the gesture to support the ALS cause and raise donations.
Learn more about ALS
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a disease that destroys the body's motor neurons (nerve cells), causing voluntary muscles to atrophy, deteriorate and weaken. Voluntary muscles are those under a person's conscious control. As the neurons are affected, sufferers lose the ability to walk, talk, swallow, and breathe, but their intellectual faculties remain unaffected. To date, there is no treatment to significantly prolong the life of sufferers.
