PMR, a Quebec company that has been processing catalytic converters since 1996, was looking to expand its facilities to have a suitable space for its machining operations and product storage. PMR turned to Syscomax in 2021 to carry out this project, which involved the construction of an industrial building on the site of the Mirabel airport.
The new building covers a total surface area of 53,065 sq. ft., including 47,200 sq. ft. for the factory and warehouse and 5,865 sq. ft. for the office space, spread over two floors. Designed by architect Jean-François Dupuis, its modern appearance sets it apart from conventional industrial buildings.
The main façade features a bold black and copper cladding combining steel and brick, and large windows. The other three exterior walls are clad in NOREX metal panels with built-in windows to provide workers with natural light. The manoeuvering area has two doors at ground level and five loading dock doors.
The work began in November 2021 and was completed over a period of nine months. In August 2022, the client was able to take possession of its new facilities, to its full satisfaction.
